Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a principal city of the South Florida metropolitan area. Known as the "Venice of America" the city is a popular tourist destination. Fort Lauderdale also hosts the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. In addition to the International Swimming Hall of Fame this complex is also home to a research library, theater, and museum. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park park, also found on Fort Lauderdale Beach is a Florida State Park complete with nature trails, camping, picnicking areas, and canoeing.
